After the cliffhanger of the first episode, there was a chance for the story to flow in a different direction in the Kaiju no.8 latest episode.
In the Kaiju no.8 latest episode, as the protagonist transformed into humanity’s bane kaiju at Yokohama South General Hospital where he was admitted along with Reno Ichikawa, he almost lost his chance to enlist to fight against kaiju, which he dreamt from his childhood.
After his metamorphosis into kaiju, Reno helped him with his all to escape the scene after he was reported to the defense force.
In a world depicted in Kaiju no.8 latest episode, where kaiju roam free and prey on humans, a defense force is the only deterrent against them.
So, when protagonist Kafka Hibino’s childhood friend also captain of the third division of defense force Mina Ashiro received the news of Kaiju’s appearance at the hospital, she set off with her team almost immediately.
A code name was set for Kafka, as Kaiju no.8.
Not knowing Kaiju’s real identity was Kafka and his exact location, the third division struggled to find him. In the meantime when Kafka was struggling
with his transformed body, another kaiju attacked a nearby location of Kafka’s escape route.
In this situation, Kafka showed his current mental fortitude by not backing down and facing, eventually defeating the kaiju. In the process, he saved a civilian duo of a child and her mother.
After the action
Coincidentally Kafka was able to turn back into his human body after that.
When the third division arrived at the scene, they only found a kaiju corpse but no sign of another kaiju who supposedly appeared at the hospital.
In Kaiju no.8 latest episode, later, when Mina asked the child about the appeared kaiju, she mentioned Kafka as a good kaiju who saved her and requested not to harm him.
In the process, Kafka became the first ever kaiju, that the third division couldn’t terminate.
Now the latter half, as three months passed, Kafka became somehow habituated to his new morphable body.
As Kafka and Reno both passed the first level of the defense force enlistment exam, they started to prepare for level two with determination.
After 10 days passed, Kafka and Reno arrived at the Tachikawa base in West Tokyo, for the second-level exam. Tachikawa base, which is also the garrison of the defense force.
There they become acquainted with a young and strong exam candidate after some scuffle, named Kikoru Shinomiya.
Conclusion
All in all, Kaiju no.8 latest episode is not as impressive or as eventfully constructed as the first one. This episode could be called just as a connection between the first episode and the episode yet to come after this one.
So waiting for the the next episode after watching this latest one can be rewarding.
