Shishitoren vs Bofurin or Choji vs Umemiya should we say, a fight between them was over, and Wind Breaker episode 10 brought forth the chance of redemption for Shishitoren or should we say Choji.
Previously, in Wind Breaker episode 9, a heated battle was going on between two enigmatic leaders of two teams, Choji of Shishitoren and Umemiya of Bofurin.
The position of the leader of Bofurin was at stake, which made Choji more motivated than ever because for him that position was something that for some unknown reason could grant him freedom.
But what was his definition of freedom?
Choji himself didn’t know the exact answer to that, as his interpretation of freedom was fighting with a stronger opponent and having fun.
Very simple, right?
But the reality wasn’t simple, after all, nobody under his leadership could fulfill this simple wish of his, as he was the strongest.
Those weaker then started to rub him the wrong way because their weakness was the only thing that kept him from freedom, at least that’s what he thought.
What he didn’t know was, that his best friend Togame was the one who helped him to keep his position as a leader intact while pretending to be the bad guy and receiving emotional wounds.
Through the fight, Umemiya made him understand that freedom was around him all along, and he let go of it in vain pursuit of power, ending with him being the most powerful but detached from his peers.
Well, sometimes it takes a long way to reach the closest destination.
Choji lost to Umemiya in both the fight and ideology and decided to step down as the leader of the Shishitoren.
He requested Umemiya to take over the team, which Umemiya denied.

What Happened After Choji vs Umemiya Fight In Wind Breaker Episode 10?
Let’s start from the beginning of Wind Breaker episode 10, The Choji vs Umemiya fight has ended, thus concluding the entire battle event.
Now, Umemiya declared it’s chow time!!
It was too unnatural to Sakura, as the people they were fighting moments ago would join them in a hearty meal.
But there was a contradiction in his mind, as he couldn’t bring himself to call his and Umemiya’s fights exactly fights, those were something else but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it.
The Bofurin team and Choji were having a meal while fooling around but Togame wasn’t quite in the mood.
Togame took the chance and apologized bowing down, for the wrongdoing of his team members, which led to the fight between Shishitoren and Bofurin.
According to him, he is the reason for the depravity of his team, as he failed to set examples as vice-leader of Shishitoren.
Choji couldn’t leave his best friend to take the blame alone as he had his eyes opened, so Choji apologized bowing down together with Togame.
Umemiya left the grand decision to Sakura, probably to test his character or maybe he already trusted him enough?
Sakura was perplexed for a moment there, but his verdict was ready a long time ago when he fought with Togame in Wind Breaker episode 7 and Wind Breaker episode 8.
Now in Wind Breaker episode 10, he voiced his very simple opinion, he demanded that Togame become cooler and not sink his hand into dirty jobs.
A touched Togame promised to do that.
Why Did Umemiya Became The Top Of Bofurin?
The happy mealtime was going on at this stage in Wind Breaker episode 10, then Choji asked the question, which had been eating at him.
He asked Umemiya, how he could be so happy even after reaching the top, when Choji himself couldn’t do the same.
Umemiya’s answer was so simple that it was at Choji’s back of the head all along.
Umemiya said he likes having fun spending time with others, it makes his worries go away when Umemiya is having a hearty meal with others.
So as much food and company has something to do with his happiness, leadership has nothing to do with that.
As Choji contemplated on the actions he took after becoming a leader, he couldn’t find any reason why a fun-loving person like Umemiya would like to bind himself into a leadership position.
But Umemiya had a solid reason to do that, which was disclosed in Wind Breaker episode 10.
Reaching the top and gaining the leadership position wasn’t a goal to him but a means to reach the goal.
His goal was to be happy, and the only way to achieve that was to make his surrounding people happy.
If there were other means to achieve that happiness, he would’ve done that instead and in fact, he wasn’t able to be the leader by his power, as one can’t become a leader alone.
This comment somehow irked Sakura as he intended to reach the top with one strength alone, but we will discuss this topic later.
Many people’s dreams and hopes propelled Umemiya to the position he is now and he decided to fight against all odds to fulfill those, that’s why he became the top of Bofurin.
As the top of Bofurin, he decided to shoulder all the dreams and hopes of the people supporting him.
Choji And Togame Came To A Realization In Wind Breaker Episode 10
Wind Breaker episode 10 continues as the happy mealtime ends and Umemiya gifts Choji a Sweet Red Bean Bread though cold.
It somehow symbolized the late chance of reconciliation that Choji got after waking up from his unrealistic and destructive dream, which hurt, and was about to push away those beside him, although it was late.
Maybe that was the reason the Sweet Red Bean Bread tasted sweet even though it was cold.
Choji realized how his wrong approach to fulfilling an unrealistic dream hurt those beside him and he couldn’t find a solution to that and realized how much he needed the help of those around him.
It was the same for Togame, so he decided to share the burden of the task through a symbolic gesture of sharing the Sweet Red Bean Bread.
When Choji tasted the Sweet Red Bean Bread with joy Togame started to tear up as that Bread represented the last chance to patch up everything, they were left with.
A new sun of hope was shining on them.
Umemiya Shows Sakura The Way To The Top
After Choji it was Sakura’s turn to enlightenment in Wind Breaker episode 10.
In Wind Breaker episode 10, Sakura learned about Umemiya’s Character as he was at the top of the Bofurin and his comment on how a person can’t go to the top by his/her strength alone seemed to have him mulling over.
The team came to Cafe Pothos, the cafe run by Tachibana Kotoha, first introduced in Wind Breaker episode 1.
It seems like before and after every major event, Cafe Pothos is the place to go!
When Kotoha welcomed him, in his mind, Umemiya’s comment on how one can’t become a leader by own strength and Kotoha’s past comment on how he can’t reach the top, because he is alone, overlapped and irked him.
According to him, if it requires having other’s support and approval to reach the top, then he can’t reach there, since he doesn’t accept others.
He was about to leave, but Umemiya stopped him with the excuse of celebrating Sakura’s first conversation with a fist, naming it, Dialogue Anniversary.
What is a conversation with a fist? We will get to it eventually.
Umemiya had something, he wanted to talk about, with Sakura.
The first thing he asked Sakura, was how his conversation with Togame was, in answer Sakura said he didn’t hear any voice from Togame’s fist!
Aww, Sakura is just soo cute.
It was the same, conversation using a fist, that Umemiya mentioned to Sakura in the Wind Breaker episode 4 and now he was going to explain what it is, to Sakura in Wind Breaker episode 10.
It is the most primitive method of communication, where one can understand the opponent’s intentions through a fight.
Umemiya said to Sakura, as he stood up for Togame against Choji, after his fight with Togame, tells, he started to like him and accepted him after their conversation with a fist.
Nirei also told him that he liked it when Sakura didn’t judge him by his outer look but by his bravery.
The point of those speeches reached Sakura.
Umemiya has been observing Sakura since he came to the town and came to the conclusion, that Sakura is a good guy, and Umemiya was much happy to have him there.
Umemiya said that maintaining this specific mindset of accepting others which he already has unbeknownst of him, could someday take him to the top.
This is how Umemiya showed him the roadmap of the way to reach the top in Wind Breaker episode 10.
Now, for the continuation, we have to wait for the next episode…
