Hi, it’s Wind Breaker episode 13. Sakura had just become the first-year Grade Captain and had a chance to meet the famous four heavenly kings of Bofurin. Helping a friend in need also came in a troubling package.
As for why it would be troubling to help a friend in need, we need to delve right into the story of Wind Breaker episode 13 to know that, but before that let’s remember what happened in Wind Breaker episode 12.
Finally, Sakura reached one step closer to the leadership position, he received the position of Grade Captain of the first-year, Tamon Team.
However, he couldn’t accept this position as he just learned that a leader should have trust for others, which didn’t have in him.
Watching him hesitate, the Vice Grade Captain of the second year, Enomoto, suggested to Sakura and his team, that they should follow the Grade Captain of the second year, Kaji, and learn the know-how of being a Grade Captain.
Sakura followed Kaji closely but was disappointed after he saw Kaji slack off in his duty.
All they had to do, was capture a cat, which seemed almost possible due to Sakura’s agility but at the last moment, it slipped away from his hand and jumped into a river, from where Kaji saved the cat.
After Sakura asked Kaji, what qualifications he had to become a Grade Captain and what he wanted to do after he became one, Kaji answered that he didn’t have anything in particular, that he wanted to do.
However, there is one thing he wanted to do was to answer to those, with his actions, who trusted him.
This atmosphere of mutual trust was new to Sakura, but what astonished him was when he learned that Nirei and Suo recommended him as Grade Captain because they depended on him and trusted him.
Next, it was Sakura’s turn to think about what he could do as a leader, and the answer to that he found at Cafe Pothos, from Kotoha, as she said to do what he could do at first, like calling his classmates by name, not by, “hey” or “you”.
He implemented that idea and took Nirei’s help to learn his classmate’s name and face.
Among all these, he noticed Anzai being wounded, was that foreshadowing some future grim event?
Next, Umemiya announced all the Grade Captains of the school to assemble at the school rooftop.
Next, what will happen? We will know that in Wind Breaker episode 13.

The Four Heavenly Kings Of Bofurin
With all of the Grade Captain of all of the year and the teams, gathering together in one place in Wind Breaker episode 13, it was time to introduce The Four Heavenly Kings to the newcomers.
Umemiya Hajime, the enigmatic leader of Bofurin, was always the one to operate under everyone’s eye, so, to share the burden, The Four Heavenly Kings came into existence.
Each reigns over different groups inside Boufurin, Just like Hiragi Toma leads the Tamon Team.
Yes, Hiragi is one of The Four Heavenly Kings.
Except for Hiragi, three other members of The Four Heavenly Kings exist.
The one leading the Jikoku Team is Tsubakino Tasuku.
Mizuki Saku, who leads the Komoku Team, and finally, Momose Takumi, leading the Zojo Team.
How Did Meeting With Other Teams Go?
The meeting among all of the Grade Captains, of all the groups, started with Umemiya’s silly remark about the completion of the plantation of new saplings, and Sugishita’s help in doing that!!
Putting that aside, Umemiya Hajime also did a greeting, bowing his head?!
According to Umemiya, he alone isn’t enough to look out for everyone in the school, so he requested all other Grade Captains to share this burden of protecting every student.
After that, all that was left was to get familiar with other Grade Captains and their subordinates.
Sakura met with Matsumoto and Yanagida again.
Who are they?
Well, you’ve seen them in the first episode of Wind Breaker.
Yanagida Was a very soft speaker if not a very low speaker, opposite of Matsumoto.
Umemiya greeted Sakura and advised him to ask for help from his seniors if needed, as they are big brothers to him.
Kaji, however, told Sakura, that he isn’t his big bro and Sakura should handle most of the things himself!!
Kaji maybe didn’t exactly mean what he said, he maybe wanted to say Sakura to be more self-reliant, but we can’t know for sure.
With all the greetings and getting familiar with each other, the meeting did end.
Was Anzai In Trouble?
After the meeting, ended in Wind Breaker episode 13, Sakura and his team returned to their respective classes.
After school, since they didn’t have any patrolling duty that day, Tsugeura suggested Sakura, Nirei, Suo, and Kiryu to visit his favorite food joint, “Muscle Power” together, which was denied by Sakura, Suo, and Kiryu immediately.
On their way, they chanced upon some hooded individuals looking for someone in Furin High’s uniform, upon not finding they returned.
The symbol of a dragon’s skeleton was enough for Suo to recognize them, they belonged to an infamous group KEEL.
It was that time they found a troubled shop owner standing in front of a narrow alleyway, upon further probing they saw a student of their school, slumped down wounded, in the alley.
It was a bloodied Anzai, it was the same Anzai, who was in Sakura’s class and shown to be wounded in the previous episode.
After resting for some time in that shop owner’s shop, Anzai was about to leave.
He gave some lame excuse for his wound, that his wounds were caused by some large dog.
He was clearly in some unspeakable trouble.
Suo deduced all the events they went through and concluded, that, Anzai was somewhat involved with KEEL in some troublesome way.
Watching Anzai’s reaction, it could be said that, Suo wasn’t far from the truth.
What Kind Of Trouble Was Anzai In?
KEEL wasn’t such a small group to get in trouble with almost everyone, there must be some crucial issue at hand, that’s what everyone in Sakura’s team thought.
Sakura at first wasn’t ready to put his nose where it didn’t belong, he thought it would be an unnecessary concern on his part.
However, when Nirei reminded him of Umemiya’s request to protect every student, he also made an excuse to go home, only to find out more about the trouble, that Anzai was in.
He had a chance to learn about the whole ordeal, as Anzai was talking with a girl who was his childhood friend.
After Anzai left, Sakura approached that girl and demanded from her the whole account of the predicament, Anzai was in.
Next, that girl told the details of the trouble Anzai was in.
It was all for their childhood friend Nagato, who was mild-mannered and tough since childhood, but after they graduated from middle school they went apart as their schools were different.
So, when Anzai caught Nagato as a purse snatcher with KEEL’s uniform, he was beyond of being shocked.
That’s why, he had to go and find Nagato again, but met him in a troubled situation, where Nagato was getting roughened up, by the members of the KEEL.
Obviously, Anzai went to help him but was rejected and beaten up by Nagato and KEEL members instead, but he noticed that the tough Nagato was crying, who never once cried in his childhood, even when in pain.
So, he didn’t give up the Idea of bringing Nagato back from that hellhole.
What Was Sakura’s Decision?
After all that happened in Wind Breaker episode 13, Sakura had to decide between helping Anzai or not.
It wasn’t an easy decision to make, since he is now a Grade Captain, and one wrong word from him can involve the whole class in serious trouble.
On the other hand, that was trouble for one individual that happened outside Bofurin’s protection zone, and Bofurin’s reason for existence was only to protect the town.
Then a letter came for Anzai, and after opening that and watching an image inside, Anzai hurried outside, and Sakura also followed behind.
After catching up with Anzai, Sakura forced that image out of his hand and saw a beaten-up Nagato, inside the image, surrounded by the members of KEEL.
Sakura could make a fast judgment and was about to leave to rescue Nagato, but Anzai couldn’t have that, because he couldn’t involve Bofurin for his reason.
That wasn’t the case this time, as Sakura said that he wasn’t going as a Bofurin member but an individual who made a promise with Anzai’s childhood friend of Anzai to bring Nagato back.
What Was The Result Of Sakura’s Decision In Wind Breaker Episode 13?
After all that happened in Wind Breaker episode 13, and Sakura made his decision, all that was left was to execute the plan to save Nagato.
But, his class couldn’t let them have all the glory to themselves, as they were also very eager to join in the fight, even Sugishita came.
They also didn’t come as members of the Bofurin, but some friends who can’t push their friend into danger alone.
So, Sakura’s individual decision ended up influencing every other classmate to take action.
Conclusion
Wind Breaker episode 13, is more about Sakura’s growth as a leader than his fighting against some adversary.
Unbeknownst to Sakura he is starting to acquire the charisma as a leader that can influence those he is supposed to lead.
But, in the next episode of the next season, we may see his real capability and true nature as he is supposed to confront the KEEL group…
