One oblivious to the world chasing his dream can’t expect a smooth ride. Noor is such a lad who nurtures a dream to become an adventurer, I Parry Everything tells the story of such a youngster.
From early childhood being enamored by adventure tales he grew up to be a kid who lived a life worrying about his sick mother, so he had long forgotten about his admiration towards adventurers.
However, on her deathbed, his mother gave him permission to live his life as he wished, which again sparked the nearly extinguished flame in his heart which drove him to become an adventurer.
Well, I won’t spoil the story further, but one thing is for sure, this is not your average adventure story, at least according to what is shown up till now.
This anime is directed by Fukuyama Dai and produced by studio OLM adapted from a manga serialization on Earth Star Entertainment’s Comic Earth Star online manga magazine adapted from a light novel by Nabeshiki.
Now, let’s see if it’s a dud of a gem in the rough.

Animation Quality And Character Design In I Parry Everything
First and foremost it is paramount to mention that, I Parry Everything has a type of fluid animation that is missing in anime of a similar genre released this year.
Other anime could have some excellent impactful visuals and attractive sequences, however, when it comes to adaptability with the flow of the story, the animation type of this anime does more than justice.
The anime here isn’t marvelous or something so out of the ordinary, according to the mood of the story the animation is appropriate and does well in depicting the mental condition of the characters in a somewhat satisfactory way.
Since there isn’t any stiffness in any sequence of the animation, the transitions of the scenes are so smooth that it’s difficult to notice any discrepancies.
All the characters are designed in such a manner, that it is easy to memorize them.
The protagonist’s character design may seem generic at first glance but as the story goes on, the charm of that bulky and good-guy-looking character fits in the story just fine.
Background Setting
The way to show the background in I Parry Everything is not so different from other anime, but what is different is each of the episodes shows the minimum necessary part of the background and doesn’t incorporate more than that.
This approach eliminates unnecessary distractions for the viewers, which helps them focus more on the main content of the story.
Either way, the color is vivid where necessary bringing out the mood according to the scenes, and in the process of building the mood dark scenes are not made so dark that it would become difficult to track the minimum necessary movements.
each of the locations is designed with keeping the scenario in mind and that shows in each scene, since none of the scene and the locations seems out of place, in fact, it feels that those couldn’t be more precise.
So it would be safe to say that the background setting complements each scene and lets the storyline flow freely.
Protagonist And His Trait
Now comes the most awaited part to discuss about the anime I Parry Everything, which is its protagonist.
A protagonist oblivious to worldly affairs only dreams about becoming an adventurer, that’s what the protagonist Noor is.
According to his knowledge, adventurers are beings that stand against all odds, fight against all injustice, fight for their companions and friends, save others, and do some noble deeds, all in all, they are of a noble profession, while the reality couldn’t be far from his ideology.
It seems that like any other profession, this profession also requires aptitude and a noble heart is not enough to become an adventurer, and the majority of the adventurers work for money.
However, the protagonist isn’t someone who would give up on his ideology after facing a harsh reality such as this and finding out he has no aptitude for an adventurer.
At least in the first four episodes, Noor is shown as someone who doesn’t give up in the face of absolute unfairness, he pushes forward with his grit, training after training, that’s his solution, and as the series name suggests he became a master of parrying.
One of the greatest traits of the protagonist is his innocence, despite being an adult his child-like innocence adds quirkiness to his character which makes each turn of the events more interesting.
So, gritty, idealist, and innocent, after summarisation this is the only description that could be given about the protagonist’s characteristic traits.
Progression Of The Story
In the first four episodes of I Parry Everything the story progresses without any major plot development, but still maintains a subtle out-of-the-box approach to a fantasy story.
If one notices each of the instances of the plotline minutely it would be quite obvious that some small changes are piling up to make a major change in the long run.
This approach to storytelling eliminates the risk of showing some major change or turn of events which could make the story hard to comprehend.
However, despite the slow development, the story doesn’t get boring since there is enough content to keep viewers busy during each scenario.
So, all in all, it is safe to say that the story of I Parry Everything progresses at quite a satisfactory pace, not breaking the flow and keeping it engaging.
Final Thought
After watching the first four episodes of I Parry Everything, it became evident that it’s such a fantasy story that it could be the only one released this year with an easy-to-digest storyline, not over the top but quite a complementary animation that doesn’t brack the engagement the story presents, and a protagonist so extraordinarily ordinary that it’s worth keeping an eye on.
Up till its fourth episode, it could be said that it’s not only a one-time watch, it’s not because of its rich content but because of the way the story is presented.
So, as per the analysis, the story up till the fourth episode is engaging enough to continue further with its next episodes.
