After watching lots of content-rich and thought-provoking anime series one does get tired to some point and Am I Actually The Strongest? is such an anime that refreshes the taste buds in that condition.
Well, it’s been nearly one year since this anime finished airing, however, for some reason, I finally managed to watch it recently, so if you don’t mind, I would like to discuss this series a little bit.
This series is a usual reincarnation in another world anime, which is probably the most trending genre nowadays.
The protagonist dies an untimely death and is brought to another world by another Goddess who uses the most cliche cards of reincarnation and cheat power.
This phenomenon made him born into the royal family and was named Hart, everything seemed so hunky dory, until according to the norm of the world as royalty his mana capacity was measured by the magic device available.
However, the Goddess granted him mana greater than the amount the world can measure so the device couldn’t show the exact result and showed his mana to be a puny amount.
His royal parents couldn’t bear the shame and announced him as stillborn and threw him away in a forest, where he met with a female Fenrir who being awe-stricken by his power, decided to follow him so he named her Flay, and the same place Gold Zenfis (a distant relative of Hart’s), finds him and Flay and decided to take them in.
Starts his mission to grow up to be a perfect shut-in which is often disturbed by demon friendships, royal feuds, assassination plots, secret superhero identities, and a little sister, leading him to some misadventure.
Not so extraordinary right? But believe me, it’s not something like an anime where they just put together a plot with the isekai and reincarnation element, it has some proper content actually, with quite good animation by Staple Entertainment and direction by Naoya Takashi.
So, since it’s not enough to say it’s a good one, let’s discuss its good point for a better understanding.

Sometimes Being Cliche Is Also Good
Am I Actually The Strongest? is a cliche reincarnation and isekai anime, there is no doubt about it, but the story doesn’t stay that way all the time.
Unlike in other reincarnation anime, the protagonist does get thrown away on the day he is born, that’s a new pinch.
However, like most anime of the same genre, the protagonist is excessively OP and oblivious.
Hart has an unmotivated mentality, while situations push him to take immediate actions, creating a character gap, and making his cliche character a tad bit interesting.
Although there is precedent to such situations in other animes it’s not so common to see one potential shut-in toil in misadventure.
There are, the same old demihumans in this series also, and one may think what is new to that, yes there is nothing new, but it does make this feel-good story pleasant to watch, well this is an anime to watch after as dessert after a lunch of a stimulating anime with heavy content after all.
Younger sister and her curiosity that makes her brother morph into a masked hero, anime addiction of younger sister, with all other miscellaneous factors, each cliche element, when those come together like pieces of the puzzle make a picture that consists of a mix of every good part of other anime of the same genre, which though not much thought-provoking but quite good to watch.
Am I Actually The Strongest? And It’s Characters
All the characters, shown in Am I Actually The Strongest? are not exactly so much unique, but not so generic either.
Like the adoptive little sister of Hart, Charlotte, who is an absolute sweetheart and has a genius disposition, is quite the troublemaker.
Though she doesn’t do anything outrageous, she has many high expectations of his brother Hart and her cute approach makes it hard to refuse to respond accordingly.
Flay the female Fenrir is one headstrong and loyal character, who is surprisingly clumsy and incapable of reading the room.
The characters in Am I Actually The Strongest? don’t stand out more than the plotline making the story easy to consume and of light flavour.
What is more interesting in Am I Actually The Strongest? is the antagonist being dealt with in mid-season.
The antagonist here is surprisingly the queen of the protagonist’s nation, in other words, his biological mother, well that is something new, which is done with an antagonistic character.
The majority of the characters are not so special but that gap is compensated by the plotline, and the character design.
Protagonist Is A Sucker For His Sister
The protagonist Hart doubts his capability and only dreams about laying low and living a shut-in life, Hart is a legendary sucker as shown in Am I Actually The Strongest? when it comes to his younger sister Charlotte.
This is one new element to have in anime of this genre, where the protagonist has a weakness for his sister(I mean in a brotherly way).
Watching a potential shut-in bend to his sister’s whim feels funny at some point, and each of his expressions while and after performing those arduous tasks is really animated nicely.
All in all, this characteristic trait of the protagonist Hart is somewhat new and refreshing to watch.
So, this element could be said one of the major selling points of the overall series.
Final Thought
Watching Am I Actually The Strongest? so late is a good thing, since it’s a good palate cleanser after watching some anime with heavy content.
On the other hand, it’s an anime that makes you feel that no special message is left by it for the viewers, that’s why those who want to watch an anime with significant meaning to it, for the plain old reason of remembering a long time, Am I Actually The Strongest? isn’t the correct choice for them.
However, this anime is for those who are finding some anime to momentarily feel good and then entirely forget the story.
