In I Parry Everything episode 8, Noor faces a full-fledged dragon which makes all other monsters he fought till now small fries.
This episode shows Noor in a new light as he knowingly faces a legendary monster, since up till now, he was under mistook all the monsters he faced as normal beasts.
That’s why, it was easy for him to face all the monsters without fear or doubt about his ability.
However, this time it’s a monster that even ignorant Noor recognizes, so his action would naturally pique one’s interest regarding this situation.

Facing A Far Stronger Enemy
As shown at the end of the previous episode, a disaster-class dragon descended on Capital City, and in I Parry Everything episode 8 shows its rampage, where the gust of wind from the flapping of its wings is enough to uproot buildings.
Empire Deridas’s ploy to take down the current Kingdom’s ruler brings forth this abomination up at the Capital City’s sky, this shows the determination of the Empire to take the relics that the Kingdom’s dungeon holds.
This simple sequence of Daragon’s appearance clearly shows the Empire’s way of doing things, its ideals, and the difference between Kingdom and Empire.
In a way, this makes Empire the bigger enemy than the Dragon, however, in I Parry Everything episode 8, the main focus is the Dragon, so let’s discuss that only.
Whereas in every episode Noor jumps headfirst to deal with monsters by himself, that is only possible because he doesn’t perceive those as monsters, to him a Minotaur is only a large cow or a Black Death Dragon is only a giant poisonous toad.
However, this ignorance didn’t work this time, since as ignorant as Noor may be, it’s not to that extent that he wouldn’t recognize a mythic existence such as a Dragon.
So, this is the first time Noor is seen using his brain and trying to avoid a direct confrontation.
He decides to escape the Capital City after grabbing Lynne’s father and brother, who, by the way, are unbeknownst to him the King and Prince.
Well, it’s entirely another matter, that Noor directly bumped into that dragon and parried its attack which was about to obliterate the king with its breath.
Accidental as it may be, Noor engaged the Dragon’s wrath after all, so he had to battle it just like any other episode.
However, it was not very convincing as he was not shown to be struggling against the century-old Dragon, and parried its attack like he would’ve done against any other monster.
Well, it’s understandable that the aim of such an approach was to portray Noor’s efficiency in the skill of parrying but this also kills off the overall vibe of an epic battle that it could have been, after all the enemy is a Dragon.
Also, Noor’s sparing of the Dragon after it submitted and Rolo’s interpretation of each difficult-to-understand expression of the Dragon made the gravity of the overall situation lighter.
So, however stronger the Dragon as an enemy may have been, the battle between it and Noor didn’t impact this story heavily.
Noor’s Mindset In I Parry Everything Episode 8
The next most important thing in I Parry Everything episode 8 is the mindset of Noor as portrayed.
Unlike in previous episodes, in this episode, Noor is faced with a greater enemy which he recognizes, so it is inevitable to have a different mindset while approaching the threat.
Facing a Dragon was impossible for Noor, as he concluded, since as always he undervalued his capabilities, and for some moments it was shown as such, however, his actual mindset while facing the Dragon was quite contradictory, because he was supposed to show at least a little bit of fear to do justice to his inferiority complex.
Instead, Noor just faced the danger levelheadedly, which totally killed the mood.
Otherwise, his intentions remained the same, which aligned with his ideals, that adventurers always help those in danger.
What’s more, Noor spared the submissive Dragon, even though the Hero he aspired to be was one Dragon Slayer, and as he accepted his shortcoming in becoming a Dragon Slayer Hero, his mindset became clear, which is of a merciful one.
Dragon’s Mindset In I Parry Everything Episode 8
If I were to choose I would undoubtedly choose that Dragon as one with more shades of emotions as the most interesting character than the protagonist Noor.
As in I Parry Everything episode 8, maybe it came across more trials and challenges than Noor.
In every story, Dragons are shown as a prideful species, and here isn’t anything different, but Noor didn’t take much time to break that pride into pieces in a cool manner.
The regret, anger, and shame of that dragon although not depicted in absolute detail, are served in a way that is enough to understand the mindset of that Dragon.
Along with all that, Rolo was there to interpret its emotions exactly, so it was an additional help to understand the Dragon’s feelings.
However, it was quite a mood killer that the great Dragon submitted to Noor very quickly, that’s why, many viewers may have found it difficult to feel the intensity of its emotions.
Final Thought
After going through the entire I Parry Everything episode 8, it is clear that this episode could have become that epic one that is unlike its previous episodes, but due to some presentation or storytelling flaw, it just couldn’t become that.
There is also the factor that, the event of this episode could’ve been much longer and extended up to the next episode, only then, this could’ve been an episode worthy of the theme of the story, which is supposed to be an epic battle.
That may be the reason, there is not much excitement left for the viewers to wait eagerly for the next episode.
But, still, who knows, it may be worth waiting for the next episode, as nobody knows what surprise it may bring.
