Grand Magic Festival has been the point of attraction in the last two episodes, and in Wistoria Wand And Sword episode 7, it finally concludes.
The previous episode was probably the peak of this arc where a very meaningful battle took place, but ended in a very anticlimactic way.
However, this episode has very little to do with that, since this episode is finally presenting the battle that was planned in episode 4, which was proposed as a challenge by Julius Reinberg to Will Serfort.
So, this may easily beat the previous episode’s battle sequence in terms of the most awaited episode, that is why, it is necessary to discuss this episode in every aspect.
Table of Contents
Animation Quality In Wistoria Wand And Sword Episode 7
In every new episode of Wistoria Wand And Sword animation quality is quite premium, and especially the battle sequences are getting better and better, no doubt.
There is also no exception in Wistoria Wand And Sword episode 7.
Here, the battle animation is quite exquisite, even better than the battle of Will against Professor Edward in episode 2, which may contain one of the best battle sequence animations in this series.
Each spell cast by Julius was animated so nicely that the required impact was delivered but those scenes didn’t stand out so much that could dull Will’s endeavor.
The most dynamic and engaging animation probably was in the sequence where Will dodged Julius’s attack continuously while running toward him and slicing down his clones after learning the discrepancies in his spellwork.
That sequence even surpassed the doing sequence in episode 2 if I may say.
Besides all of that, Will’s flashy and quick movements were displayed with utmost efficiency which was enough to prove his monstrous dexterity.
Since this episode contains majorly a battle sequence from beginning to end, it’s safe to say that the superb animation of it’s dictated at least half of the success of Wistoria Wand And Sword episode 7.
Julius Reinberg, A Typical Snob
Although episode 4 showed a glimpse of Julius Reinberg’s personality, strong to weak, however, that episode didn’t dwell much on it.
However, Wistoria Wand And Sword episode 7 does a good job of portraying snobbiness of Julius as it is.
After mastering one of the powerful magic of Magia Vende Albis Vina, Julius seemed to assume himself as some bigshot, as the only capable person to succeed her unbeknownst the fact that, that magic was invented by her 2-year-old self.
However, if we take his snobbiness away, he seemed to be quite a genius, as shown in this episode, the only one who is capable of mimicking the ice magic of Albis Vina to some extent.
But as one who is planning to be her successor, Julius has very little respect for Albis Vina who is Will Serfort’s childhood friend.
That’s why when he learned that he wasn’t even able to copy the magic Albis Vina created when she was 2-year-old he exploded emotionally, showing weakness, and allowing Will to win.
Once in a while, such a predictable character is necessary to build up the momentum of the story and that’s where Julius comes in handy.
His wickedness, deceptive nature, and snobbiness, everything was necessary to make Will shine bright as a protagonist.
Weakness Of Julius Reinberg
Despite being the third strongest mage student in the Academy and an excellent ice mage who also could be called a prodigy among his peers, Julius Reinberg had some fatal weaknesses, as shown in Wistoria Wand And Sword episode 7.
One of his major flaws was his overconfidence, which caused him to not even think about double-checking whether the spellwork of Albis Vina he mastered was complete.
He even used his incomplete magic to boast to the scouts of the magic tower and pitched himself as a potential successor of Albis Vina, well that’s another matter, that he failed miserably.
Now if we look into the intricacy of his spellwork of First Magic: Ars Weiss, it is shown unlike magic that creates Guardians which operate on their own, Julius was only capable of creating clones requiring him to control their movements.
While Julius is the first mage besides Elfaria to replicate the spell, his casting is imperfect, he can summon a maximum of only eight clones unassisted, can only precisely control four and unable to prevent cold from leaking out from the clones, and requires assistant to maintain control.
With that many flaws, it was inevitable that Julius lost to Will, who since childhood experienced every invention of Albis Vina firsthand.
Assertiveness Of Will Serfort
Up till now in every episode, Will Serfort fought to prove something or survive out of desperation, however in Wistoria Wand And Sword episode 7, it’s a little bit different.
Since the bet between Will and Julius came into play in this episode where Julius had to apologize to Will’s Dwarve friends for ridiculing them, it was more of a battle for justice from Will’s perspective, so this is why, Will is seen somewhat more assertive while battling Julius in this episode.
Maybe to display this side of Will this Julius character and the situation of episode 4 are created, well it’s a good way to initiate the mutation of the protagonist’s character.
So, in that sense, Julius is a necessary character for this series, and he was utilized quite cleverly in Wistoria Wnad And Sword episode 7.
Julius’s disregard for Albis Vina was also another reason which made Will more aggressive.
Will seems to be slowly evolving from an extremely passive character to something more, and Julius is used as the first catalyst for this change.
Final Thought
Wistoria Wand And Sword episode 7 is quite a self-explanatory one which couldn’t be any better in displaying Will Serfort’s character evolution, however, the battle sequence is also another attraction which may have placed this episode at the top among all the 7 episodes released up till now.
So, this episode couldn’t be better than this in my opinion, and now what is left is to patiently wait for the next episode.
