This time around, in My Hero Academia episode 153, things are more chaotic as a mob of Anthromorphs, led by berserk Spinner, makes their way to extract Kurogiri.
As a continuation of the previous episode’s event, this episode also delves into the resentment and conscience of the Anthromorph society, who are repeatedly oppressed and discriminated against.
Alongside that, the majority of the focus in My Hero Academia episode 153 is on the villain’s side since they seemed to be gaining the upper hand in this episode.

Kurogiri Rescue Operation
The first part of My Hero Academia episode 153 is mostly about rescuing Kurogiri who is held captive in Central Hospital, in the guise of the rebellion of Anthromorphs.
Unlike the previous episode where the moral dilemma of the rebellion army existed, this episode shows a totally out-of-control mob, without an ounce of hesitation, ready to barge into the hospital.
This difference sets the stage entirely for the villains, however, a cheesy scene of the medical employees holding hands to prevent them from entering workers, which may be a little letdown, but these are the things that are very expected in this series since it’s a so-called “Hero” story about lots of fight against adversity, unity, and hope.
So, why fret, instead, it was a twist that, Present Mic was tasked with the elimination of Kurogiri who was in fact his and Eraser Head’s childhood friend Shirakumo, well it’s a well-known fact anyway.
And just like heroes show their heroic struggle at the last moment, spinner also showed his last-moment heroic struggle to recover Kurogiri, which turned the battle to the Villain’s advantage, and that was a new approach no doubt, since like a show from My Hero Academia, were heroes are mostly glorified, it’s a first one if we exclude the arc with Hero Killer Stan.
However, the rebellion dying down just after a big speech from Shoji in the previous season is kind of rushed and too much anticlimactic.
Besides that, other factors like the flashback scenes of Spinner are quite well placed.
Mass emotion is displayed properly through some individual side characters.
So in other words, the short sequence of Kurogiri Rescue Operation contains more events than the previous episode.
Villeins Reign Supreme In My Hero Academia Episode 153
In the My Hero Academia episode 153 simply speaking, villains reign supreme.
Like Spinner, every villain is regarded highly in My Hero Academia episode 153, and they had their chances to shine especially.
For example, Spinner’s earnest struggle to be the hero for Shigaraki Tomura, Toga Himiko dealing out retribution for the sake of Bubaigawara Jin.
In each of the instances where villains get their spotlight shining on them are presented flawlessly.
Especially Toga Himiko’s confrontation with Uravity and Froppy and assuming the role of Bubaigawara Jin by starting Sad Man’s Parade.
Spinner’s recklessness is glorified appropriately in this episode as he approaches Kurogiri, and his disappointment after finding that he has lost his support is expressed in a short but to-the-point manner.
Dabi’s firepower also is a spectacle to watch although it is shown for a very short period, right up to Kurogiri shows up to deliver him to Endeavor.
In short, after Kurogiri’s release, the tide of battlefields turned in the favour of the villains and as if to prove that point, My Hero Academia episode 153 mostly focuses on villains.
The Main Orchestrator Remains Behind The Scene
The main orchestrator of the battle against heroes, All For One, mostly remains behind the scenes.
His presence is expressed in the flashback of the villain’s planning mostly.
Though he is not mostly present in this episode, his single appearance in the very last moment of the episode where finally the tide of the battle turns to the favor of the villains for good is the most impactful, since the execution of all the planning he has gone through become successful with his presence.
However, a little bit more of All For One could have been better of a stimulus for My Hero Academia episode 153.
Final Thought
After watching My Hero Academia episode 153 one thing became clear, this episode is entirely villain-centric, and though there are very less instances of the hero’s success, the focus of the overall episode is on the villains.
This approach is quite unlike My Hero Academia and there are very few instances like this in this series.
Even so, this episode doesn’t fail to deliver the required excitement with a cliffhanger at the very end, which makes one eagerly wait for the next episode.
