Tower Of God season 2 episode 9 is mostly about one of the team members of Jue Viole Grace, Horyang Kang, and some of his past grievances.
Entirely unrelated to the previous episode, the story of Tower Of God season 2 episode 9 focuses more on one of the supporting characters, Horyang Kang, and his backstory.
Except for the short instance of Khun Aguero Agnis learning about Baam’s(Jue Viole Grace) survival after the fall, from the chatbot AI, Emily, the majority of the story revolves around Horyang Kang.

Horyang Kang And His Past
Horyang Kang, the burly guy with the unique ability to use waves inherently seems like an enigmatic guy and he is proven to be just that kind of a person in Tower Of God season 2 episode 9.
His terrible past was where he also had another name Beniamino Ilmar however, he always didn’t have a name to be called upon, instead, he was provided with a code number, No. 21 along with an unfortunate mate of his named Beniamino Cassano who was numbered as No. 99.
Their name was the result of the unconditional love they received from the single-kind researcher at the facility where they used to reside as test subjects.
Ok, let’s make some things clear first, Both Ilmar and Cassano used to be orphans of the Middle Area of the tower where only rankers were allowed to give birth, and outside of them, if anyone birthed any child they were fated to be sold off as research asset to the Workshop.
Yes, it’s the same workshop, that handles the Workshop Battle that Wangnan Ja and the team are planning to attend on the 30th floor.
The orphan’s body is hence researched to build human vessels for living weapons and this was no different for Ilmar and Cassano, where Ilmar’s body was incorporated with demonic right hand and Cassano’s body was incorporated with demonic left hand after sacrificing 99,999 children.
However, after getting the complete result from them researchers sent them away, and that was the chance for Ilmar to become Horyang Kang, a contender who wished to climb the tower.
After climbing the tower up to the 20th floor, Ilmar couldn’t fight against his consciousness anymore and decided to stop using his ability which was achieved at the cost of the lives of 99,999 children, to climb the tower, but resumed after a long time.
All these flashbacks did a good job of establishing the character foundation of Horyang Kang which was necessary at some point.
The Conflict Between Viole And Ilmar In Tower Of God Season 2 Episode 9
Using the same ability as Ilmar to regenerate from severe wounds was the undoing for Viole in Tower Of God season 2 episode 9.
Ilmar had this negative impression about the power he had as it took too large a sacrifice to come to fruition, and if Viole was using the same ability as him, that does mean that many more lives were sacrificed for that and FUG is related to that.
At this point in the story properly presenting an inflight of Viole and Ilmar could have been quite dramatic of an approach, however, in Tower Of God season 2 episode 9, this issue resolves with a single incomplete spar where Viole didn’t even have to take any action.
For a character like Ilmar or Horyang Kang who has been exploited his whole life, it’s quite hard to believe a suspicious character like Viole whom he doesn’t know for long.
So, particularly this turn of events where everything seemed to be solved with a single punch thrown by Horyang Kang dulls the excitement of the story in Tower Of God season 2 episode 9.
However, Horyang Kang breaking off from the team in search of Cassano could be a new initiation of a new route in the story of this season.
Final Thought
Except for the history of Horyang Kang and his conflict with Viole, there are some instances in Tower Of God season 2 episode 9, where Khun Aguero Agnis goes after Cassano to avenge his teammate.
Otherwise, everything seemed related to Horyang Kang, and using that, a character shade of him was built in this episode, which we may see in application in the next episode.
