Lighthearted Content Of Wistoria Wand And Sword Episode 8
The events of Wistoria Wand And Sword episode 8 take place after the Great Magic Festival.
The story kicks off with a merry party with Dwarves and Will Serfort and friends along with Preofesor Workner.
A short but lively venue is presented with bright animation and sequences here, with funny moments of Julius apologizing to Draves by working as a dishwasher at Dwarven Tavern.
Well, the reason for his apology is already known to viewers who watched episode 4, still to jog your memory, he ridiculed Dwarves for their lower social status, and that irked Will, so after his retaliation both of them agreed upon a bet which stated if Julius loses in the Grand Magic Festival to Will than he will have to apologize to the Dwarves he insulted.
Well, it’s quite anticlimactic that Julius almost went scot-free just by menial labor, at this point, it is also not that important to establish a hierarchy of winner and loser in this episode since in the previous episode Julius was shown to have his pride broken which he held in high regard already.
So, it’s fine and dandy that the consequence part is limited to just that party time.
After that, it was quite satisfying to see the so-called “Learner Mage” Will getting approached by almost every other classmate to team up with for the upcoming Praxis Exam.
It felt as if after 7 episodes, the protagonist finally got some recognition, it’s another funny story that Will was more than happy to receive those offers and Colette got all defensive about Will and forced a Date promise out of him.
Now all that was left to show is the Date event of Will and Colette getting intervened by Rosti.
The unusual chemistry between Will and Rorsti where even Rosti holds hands with Will seems kind of sensual, with an alluring animation, is the cherry on the cake.
Except that, Rosti directly confronts Colette with facts like his regular bathing with Will makes him closer to him than Colette could ever be, seems to going in some other direction, but it can’t be also that simple, since all the time, Rosti seems to have more to him that he shows, well it’s an assumption on my part entirely.
All the sequences where Rosti intentionally became the third wheel in Will and Colette’s date were kind of funny since Colette showed all the funny expressions with half-speech.
What’s more, all those sequences function as some buffer after all those serious episodes and the more serious episodes, yet to come.
So, after due consideration, Wistoria Wand And Sword episode 8 is an episode that works well to loosen the tension that this series has built up til now, which is also necessary per se.
So, this episode was necessary after all as an in-between connecter, and not like just any other filler episodes that other series put together to fill an airing time slot.
That’s why, the lighthearted content of this episode is of utmost importance although it does very little in the main story’s progress.
The Last Bit Of Serious Part
Although a little bit, a serious hint is given in Wistoria Wand And Sword episode 8 for its next episode.
This hint points to the upcoming Praxis Exam where a team of students had to dive into deeper floors of the dungeon to hunt monsters and survive for a few days and, for team up, Will somehow gets chosen by elite 4 of the Academy.
A little bit of motive behind winning is revealed, and also Will’s joining that team is finalized in this episode, though cut to the exam day, Colette accompanying him doesn’t change.
This sequence doesn’t have much impact on Wistoria Wand And Sword episode 8 but it may be important for the upcoming episode.
Final Thought
After watching Wistoria Wand And Sword episode 8, it’s clear that though this isn’t an episode of most importance in this series that doesn’t make it a so-called “filler” episode.
In fact, it’s an episode that could be used to understand the chemistry between Will, Colette, and Rosti.
And with its last bit serious part, it is a connector part of the previous episode and the next episode.
