My Hero Academia episode 156 focuses on All For One and his exploits as he keeps getting younger and stronger using his newfound quirk and turning the tide of the battle in the villains’ favor.
Besides a brief moment, that shows a despairing Toga Himiko as she struggles to control her quirk due to emotional issues, most of the part of My Hero Academia episode 156 shows All For One gaining control over the battlefield which was previously being dominated by heroes in the previous episode.

All For One On The Roll
My Hero Academia episode 156 shows a stronger version of All For One nearly overwhelming heroes.
Well, in the beginning, as the continuation of the previous episode, All For One was being pummelled by young heroes, however, things didn’t stay the same for long.
The way this battle arc shows ups and downs for both the hero and villain group in every alternative episode to maintain tension is quite ingenious and after the villain group’s downtime in the previous episode, in My Hero Academia episode 156 All For One, representing the villain group turns the table.
Although at the beginning the quite young and strong All For One was being overpowered by the young heroes, however, after he turned into the form of his prime, most of the advantages heroes had over him seemed to be lost.
And, that was the time, when All For One was shown as that near-perfect villain that everyone was expecting Shigaraki Tomura to be.
The most dramatic scene in this episode was All For One knocking down every position in a single blow and absorbing Hawks’s quirk slowly and painfully.
That sequence somehow overshadowed that particular flashback from the golden age of All For One where he was standing above the rubble of the nearly destroyed society.
After all the commotion that we will discuss later, All For One seemed to have adapted to the adverse situation of villains and used the trump card he [possessed to turn his own body into its prime form and all of that sequence from being in peril to turning the table around are arranged with absolutely near perfect order, and thus shows All For One as he goes for the win.
Heroes, As They Struggle In My Hero Academia Episode 156
Now, let’s discuss those commotions that heroes cooked up to prevent All For One’s progress, in My Hero Academia episode 156, which was set aside to discuss later.
From the beginning, Tsukuyomi, Hawks, and other students of Shiketsu High School, like Yoarashi Inasa with his tornado skill and others did their part to prevent All For One in his way to reunite with Shigaraki Tomura.
Things also turned more interesting when this episode clearly showed that everything isn’t black and white, but there is also a grey part in all of this.
Well, this grey part showed its tail in the previous episode where Kurogiri started to berserk, and in My Hero Academia episode 156, it’s Gigantomachia who showed up as that grey part since Shinso Hitoshi did his part to function as a stopgap for Gigantomachia’s rage and despair of abandonment against All For One.
Besides all of that, Ashido Mina’s endless struggle to prevent Gigantomachia from going out of control with her out-of-character, passionate resistance via intense battle, which was her homage to Midnight was something that put her in the spotlight that wasn’t available for her up till now.
Mt.Lady is someone who always tributes on a “larger” scale in nearly every war-scale battle arc, and in My Hero Academia episode 156, it wasn’t any different.
So, all of the instances and sequences involving other heroes where they worked on different battlefields aiming for the same goal are depicted with enough detail that it doesn’t disturb the story flow but also delivers the message.
Final Thought
After watching My Hero Academia episode 156 it’s clear that the focus of this episode mostly dwells on the exploits of All For One alongside some of the hero’s endeavors.
On the other hand, this episode does a good job of positively messing up the perfect black-and-white nature of the villains and heroes.
So, since this episode does play an important part in breaking the long-stagnant situation of this war arc, so, it makes one quite curious about what can next episode deliver.
