Demon Slayer Season 4 Episode 7: Agonizing Past Of Strong Himejima

Posted on June 24, 2024July 1, 2024 By swetabjya No Comments on Demon Slayer Season 4 Episode 7: Agonizing Past Of Strong Himejima

Hi, it’s Demon Slayer season 4 episode 7, with Tanjiro going through the last phase of Himejima Gyomei’s training, it makes us curious about what kind of a person Himejima is.

Since he is the only person whose information is lacking in the entire Demon Slayer series, it is natural to be curious about him.

We will get to that point, but first, let us remember what happened in the previous episode.

Previously, in Demon Slayer season 4 episode 6, Tanjiro and Zenitsu went to train under, Stone Hashira Himejima Gyomei.

He assigned three takes for them to complete.

The first one was, staying under the cold water of a tall waterfall in that winter season.

During this task, they chanced upon Inosuke and Mr. Murata, whom we probably met last at Mount Natagumo Arc.

The next task was to pick up three large and fat timbers(maybe larger than Tanjiro himself) tied together.

Both of those training was completed by Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu respectively.

The last task was to push one larger-than-body boulder 1cho(358ft) away, and this was the task in which Tanjiro got stuck.

Shinazugawa Genya came as a godsend to him and told him about repetitive motion, which may help him to move that boulder.

After some trial and error, Tanjiro managed to mimic the repetitive motion and push that ginormous boulder to some distance.

However, whether he managed to complete the task or not, we will know in Demon Slayer season 4 episode 7.

What Kind Of Person Is Himejima Gyomei?

Wow, In Demon Slayer season 4 episode 7, Tanjiro finally managed to move that ginormous boulder 1 cho(358ft) away.

That task wasn’t easy by any means, as Tanjiro had to go through enlightenment to unlock his potential and then he was able to complete the task.

In the process, he inspired Inosuke to progress, but Tanjiro’s body gave out after finishing the task.

Given how headstrong Tanjiro is, it is quite understandable, that he would’ve pushed his body to the limit.

Himejima may seem too busy with training to notice anything, but Tanjiro’s condition didn’t escape his ever-watchful eyes.

In the entire Demon Slayer series, Himejima Gyomei isn’t shown to that extent, so we can’t understand his disposition.

All we have seen is his stoic personality with an empathetic side that shades tears for other’s misfortune.

However, do we know, why Himejima is like that?

Relieving Tanjiro of his fatigue by offering him water, Himejima spoke his mind to Tanjiro, he acknowledged Tanjiro’s drive to save others at Swordsmith’s Village.

Relieving Tanjiro of his fatigue by offering him water, Himejima spoke his mind to Tanjiro

Maybe this was the first time Himejima approached someone of his own volition, and I would say, Tanjiro was quite lucky to be part of such a moment.

But, Tanjiro couldn’t accept such praise, since he wasn’t the one who made the decision, to save other humans instead of his Demon sister Nezuko, it was Nezuko, who made that decision.

His integrity touched Himejima, and he decided to believe Tanjiro despite anything others say.

According to him, he is somewhat skeptical of others, before they prove their authenticity.

It’s a surprising revelation in Demon Slayer season 4 episode 7, that ever empathetic Himejima could have such a side to him.

He is especially skeptical about children because according to him, those innocent individuals can lie for their convenience, not thinking of others.

This was quite an unusual side of him, despite his empathetic persona.

What Happened To Himejima Gyomei In His Past?

In Demon Slayer season 4 episode 7, it became clear that Himejima Gyomei isn’t only an empathetic person, but skepticism is also inside him.

As for, why this is so, to know that it is required to know about the past, that shaped the current Himejima.

This is a story that, Himejima told Tanjiro to make him understand, the gravity of his comment when he said, children can hurt others, due to their selfish lies.

This is a story that, Himejima told Tanjiro

Demon Slayer season 4 episode 7, does a nice job of depicting the story, important enough to understand Himejima’s character properly, of which we didn’t have the chance until now.

So, according to the story, Himejima Gyomei was a poor monk who took it upon himself to raise some orphan children.

They didn’t have bountiful wealth in any way but had plenty of happiness filling up their daily livelihood.

They maybe weren’t related by blood, but they couldn’t be any less than a family.

Among the children, especially the youngest one Sayo was especially fond of Himejima.

They had their share of happy days, but such happiness didn’t last long.

One day everything turned upside down.

One child was coming home late one day ignoring the rule set by Himejima, and due to the turn of events, chanced upon a Demon.

To save his hide, he traded the lives of 8 remaining children, sniffing out the Demon-repelling wisteria incense placed around their home.

The Demon came in and claimed four lives before Himejima could even wake up, and after that, there was utter chaos.

The Demon came in

None of the children except Sayo believed in Himejima’s capability by judging him by his then-sickly appearance and, were killed by the Demon.

Himejima had to protect Sayo at least, so he rained down on that Demon with his fist until the sun rose.

He saved Sayo but was shocked to find out, Sayo’s testimony against him, which convicted him as the killer of those children.

Well, there was no proof, that it was the work of a Demon since that Demon turned into ash as soon as the sun rose.

Himejima was imprisoned as a killer and remained that way until the help of Ubuyashiki Kagaya came.

Himejima was imprisoned as a killer

Since then, he became skeptical of children, as he experienced firsthand, their lies to save themselves, especially because it is more than enough burden for them to care for themselves.

This occurrence, in his past, as depicted in the Demon Slayer season 4 episode 7, shaped the current Himejima Gyomei.

Next Trainer After Himejima Gyomei In Demon Slayer Season 4 Episode 7

Finally, the rigorous training under Himejima Gyoumei, the Stone Hashira was over, it was time to move on to the next training.

In Demon Slayer season 4 episode 7, Zenitsu goes unnoticed since he receives a letter from his messenger bird Chuntaro.

Next, Zenitsu appeared when Tanjiro was about to leave for the next training, with strict face, which was very unlikely of him.

He was clutching the letter with his hand, maybe, foreshadowing some important future event.

But that isn’t a matter we need to concern ourselves with, instead, let’s see who will train Tanjiro next.

The next trainer after Himejima Gyomei was Water Hashira, Tomioka Giyu.

It was the same person who created a chance and place for Tanjiro and his Demon sister Nezuko, and the same person Tanjiro convinced to join the Hashira Training.

Since this is the case, we can expect a nice event surrounding this training, right?

Before the training even started, Tanjiro was fortunate enough to observe the power hidden underneath the calm exterior of Tomioka Giyu, as he was having a duel with Wind Hashira, Shinazugawa Sanemi.

Tomioka Giyu, as he was having a duel with Wind Hashira, Shinazugawa Sanemi

However, Tanjiro mistook their training as some infight between Giyu and Sanemi and tried to stop that.

There was a funny situation, in which Tanjiro thought, Sanemi was fighting for Ohagi-a typical Japanese red bean sweet, which in turn irked Sanemi.

Whatever, the main thing is, a training session was going to start under Tomioka Giyu.

Demon Infiltration At Demon Slayer Headquarters

Demon Slayer season 4 episode 7, may have been going smoothly up to this point, but dark clouds of misfortune were waiting just in the corner.

After a long period of Demon inactivity, maybe Demon Slayer Corp. had lost their edge, or maybe for some other reason Demon Infiltrated the headquarters.

Sanemi was the first person to detect that, but it was too late, since the boss of apex of all Demons, Kibutsiji Muzan had already made his way to Ubuyashiki Mansion.

Kibutsiji Muzan had already made his way to Ubuyashiki Mansion

With only Ubuyashiki Amane beside his sick bed, Ubuyashiki Kagaya was lying there helplessly, but he didn’t lose his spirit and addressed Muzan with determination.

Ubuyashiki Kagaya was lying there helplessly, but he didn't lose his spirit
addressed Muzan with determination

It’s quite shocking, as the last boss has just arrived at the beginning phase!!

Now, it’s a matter of much importance, that, what should happen to Ubuyashiki Kagaya, Because he is the sworn enemy of Kibutsuji Muzan.

To know the answer to this cliffhanger, stay tuned for the next episode…
