Demon Slayer Season 4, brings another new episode to us, Episode 4, “To Bring a Smile to One’s Face”.
This episode is as usual an Episode on training.
Well, the story arc is called “Hashira Training” for a reason.
Duh! There’s “Training” in the arc title and so does in the story !!
In this episode, Tanjiro will have to go through another training session, with another Hashira,Tokito Muichiro.
Now, if you ask me, what’s so special about this episode?
Then, I’ll have to say, it’s Muichiro because the previously aloof and emotionless him has now started to show emotions.
This side of him is yet to be properly displayed in any other episodes before this.
After Muichiro’s emotional card is unlocked, everyone has been curious about his character development.
In this Episode of Demon Slayer Season 4, we will come to know the new version of Tokito Muichiro along with his behavior toward those around him.
Previously…
In the previous Episode of this season of Demon Slayer, Tanjiro had an intense training session with now-retired Sound Hashira Uzui Tengen.
It was also a rare chance to catch up with Tengen and his three wives.
While all other Cadets were struggling to continue with the basic course, Tanjiro Breezed through the more advanced course.
It is to be expected, as Tanjiro grew much more after fighting with Upper-Class Demons in the Entertainment District under the guidance of Tengen.
He also fought Upper-Class demons in the Swordsmith Village increasing his STR and EXP further more.
After he was tested in a guerilla warfare simulation against Tengen along with his fellow peers, he was told to go to the next training venue.
The next story will be continued in Episode 4 of the Demon Slayer Season 4.
Next…
In this Episode of Demon Slayer Season 4, Now it is time to meet the next training instructor for Tanjiro.
Since it’s Tokito Muichiro, the Mist Hashira, it’s exciting and suspenseful to know how his meeting will go.
Muichiro just recently regained some of his previous memory, he also became expressive.
We all know that the majority of our emotions are built on our memories and experiences of the past, it was the same for Muichiro.
Muichiro in Demon Slayer Season 4
The story of this Episode in Demon Slayer Season 4 started as Tanjiro made his way toward the dojo where Muichiro was instructing other Demon Slayer Cadets.
Muichiro was a kinda’ “Demon” instructor, merciless towards his trainees and hell-bent on making them stronger.
He didn’t use any harsh words, but his cold analysis and actions spoke louder than anything else.
However, Tanjiro started training under Tokito Muichiro At this stage.
Let me be clear, this Episode of Demon Slayer Season 4 is more focused on other Demon Slayer Cadets than Tanjiro.
Being the youngest Hashira in Demon Slayer, Muichiro excelled in his skills and prowess, so he also had high expectations of others.
This characteristic trait of his was the reason for suffering for others.
What can I say, Muichiro is an example of a typical elite who can’t stand others slacking off.
He was cold and calculative with his training regime, even though he changed his vibe entirely when meeting with Tanjiro.
Yes, Muichiro has a soft spot for Tanjiro, we can’t blame him after what they went through together in Swordsmith Village!!
Training Begins…
This Episode didn’t show much of Tanjiro’s training, instead focused more on Muichiro’s unbiased interaction with other trainees.
He was strict, always told not to show their weakness to their opponent(Demons) and to stand up every time they were beaten down.
Muichiro’s insight is, that hesitation in a life-and-death battle can result in death.
Every day he sparred with all of the trainees in an all-against-one style and washed the floor with them every time.
During his training, he also did some one-on-one sessions with Cadets and pointed out their fatal flaw in fighting technique and mindset.
Even with the challenging training, Cadets were somehow getting by, but Muichiro’s Messenger Crow kept rubbing salt in their emotional wounds, telling them they were useless and to go get eaten by Demons!!
It was hell for other Cadets.
There was an instance when he asked one of them to fight with a real sword instead of a training sword, and the result was an expected one.
That trainee couldn’t even attack.
As expected, that Cadet knew very well the gap of strength between them.
But it was the first time Muichiro was somewhat satisfied by his action as he didn’t attack thoughtlessly.
Training with Tanjiro was going really well as he progressed quickly.
Other Side of Muichiro in Demon Slayer Season 4
Now, we will discuss the hidden other side of Tokito Muichiro, which was under the veil until now.
But before that, we will reveal the surprising presence of Mr. Kanamori from the Swordsmith Village.
After Swordsmith Village was nearly destroyed by the Demon’s attack, Muichiro brought him under the pretext of him being of help in maintaining Muichiro’s Nichirintou(Demon Slaying Sword).
Leader of Demon Slaying Corp. Ubuyashiki Kagaya approved of that and even built him a workshop dedicated to that work.
Wow!! Muichiro has learned to worry for others now!!
He was even worried about Kagaya, as he was sick in bed.
As Kagaya helped him in any way possible despite being ill, he felt gratitude towards him.
In short, he started to become a more down-to-earth person.
But he never forgot the need to improve himself and became more intense in the process, with a more humane approach.
Every night, when all the other trainees were resting, he went out to train and improve, with Shinazugawa Sanemi and Iguro Obanai.
When other Cadets felt Tanjiro’s closeness with Muichiro, they requested him to ask Muichiro to change the way he addresses or behaves with others.
Tanjiro took on the request, and as he was progressing quickly, his training was done in five days.
Wasn’t it too short even for a protagonist!?
Whatever, let’s come to the point.
Tanjiro then asked to compete with him in a paper plane flying competition, because he previously learned from Mr. Kanamori that Muichiro’s hobby was paper planes.
The term was that if Tanjiro won any one of the ten consecutive matches, Muichiro had to start talking in a kind tone with his trainees.
As expected, Tanjiro lost in all ten matches, I mean, how can you expect to win against an enthusiast?
But using that trigger event, many of the Cadets, who shared the same hobby came together with Muichiro forming a friendly circle.
Muichiro wasn’t so much reluctant, as he found his child-like excitement back.
On the other hand, Demons were lurking in the darkness.
Tanjiro left his sister Nejuko in the trusted hand of Urokodaki Sakonji.
Tanjiro promised Muichiro to defeat Kibutsuji Muzan together.
Finally…
Now the time has come to train under the next Hashira, Love Hashira, Kanroji Mitsuri, the kind-hearted, empathetic, and friendly one. She had some strange hobbies and tastes as shown in this Season of Demon Slayer.
She keeps bees to produce honey to eat honeyed bread with butter.
Since the story setting is in the Muromachi period and Tanjiro came from a rural place, he neither was familiar with the term butter nor was used to seeing someone keeping bees.
Well, you can’t really blame him as he wasn’t familiar with the media known as newspapers, so a lot of things were unknown or new to him.
Next, we have to wait to watch his upcoming training with Love Hashira…
