Killing Spree in Goblin Slayer first season
In a situation of life and death for the priestess, Goblin Slayer came like a prayer answered from heaven.
When the priestess was facing imminent death, Goblin Slayer came and protected him.
Goblin Slayer started to slaughter the nearby goblins altogether. He also relieves the mage from pain by giving her a quick death.
After that, he started to kill the remaining goblins using the terrain and strategizing some plans.
He used multiple traps and with the help of flame, he killed the remaining goblins including their children.
An adventurer unlike a normal one
Goblins Slayer, described in Goblin Slayer first season, isn’t a normal adventurer by any means. He has a deep-rooted insanity regarding goblins and their termination.
There had been a very symbolic conversation between him and the priestess in goblins cave.
Priestess asked, “Would you kill it, even if there is a good goblin?”
He replied, “Good goblins are those, who don’t come out in people’s sight.”
In short, he was the devil incarnate for the goblins.
Unlike normal adventurers, he doesn’t enjoy his journey. He just did that out of the necessity of goblin termination.
His morning starts with checking if there is any sign of goblin presence near his residency.
After that, he finds a goblin slaying quest in the guild.
After taking such a quest, he goes on to complete it.
For showing such trait, he is often looked down upon by other adventurers despite being a high-ranking adventurer himself.
Beacon of hope
As described in Goblin Slayer first season, goblins being comparatively weak monsters, higher rank adventurers, knights or soldiers generally avoid hunting them.
The downside of this is, goblin’s increasing population.
Since goblins hunt in the herd, the ones they are hunting become helpless in front of their relentless attack.
Common folks gets most effected in their attack and don’t have any solution.
In such a situation, a person like Goblin Slayer is like a godsend to them, whose only aim is to terminate goblins.
His long record of only hunting goblin despite being a high-ranking adventurer, became a song of velour, sung by bards in vast areas, making him a beacon of hope for the common people living in the fear of goblins.
Loner teaming up
For the working method of Goblin Slayer, as described in Goblin Slayer first season, he didn’t have any teammate who could protect his back.
But after protecting the priestess, she became his one and only teammate for the time period.
After spending a long time being a Loner, suddenly getting a teammate was a bit difficult for him.
His lack of communication skills became a barrier which priestess broke forcefully.
They went on many quests.
After some time a team of adventurers came in search of him. An elf, a dwarf, and a lizardman, for a goblin slaying quest.
He joined them and fulfilled the quest.
From then on, they also joined team Goblin Slayer.
As his team started to grow, his social personality also started to mature.
They passed some harshest times to gather in some quests. There were multiple times when most of them faced impending death but survived by the skin of their teeth.
Reason for resentment
Up until now, in the story of Goblin Slayer first season, we’ve seen how resentful the protagonist is towards goblins. What we don’t know is his reason for resentment.
In his childhood, his settlement was attacked by a horde of goblins.
While plundering, they killed many villagers.
They even tormented and killed the only family he had, his sister, while he had to hide and watch the whole thing.
From that day onwards, he became unhinged and hellbent on revenge against goblins.
He decided to become the deterrent for the goblins whom he resented from that day forward.
Breaking the shell
In Goblin Slayer first season, being the loner that he is, Goblin Slayer had difficulty expressing himself. He even had trouble in requesting something from someone.
Being on a team of some individuals with different perspectives, helped him in practicing opening up to others.
The priestess, elf, dwarf, lizardman, each and every member of his team had put in their utmost effort to communicate with him.
All those efforts by his teammates brought some changes in his personality. He later could share his opinion with others and hold a discussion.
He later found out goblin footprint around his residency and failed in persuading his neighboring childhood friend to leave the area.
Then Goblin Slayer could easily break out of his shell and bow in front of all the adventurers in the guild while requesting a goblin termination quest to protect his childhood friend’s life together with him.
He got a positive reply.
Conclusion
The whole Goblin Slayer first season, this unique fantasy tale, follows Goblin Slayer, as he matures emotionally.
At first, he was just an unhinged individual, hellbent on extinguishing goblins in his sight by any means necessary.
Later after meeting new teammates, he started to change for good. He started to communicate with other people about other content except goblins.
He was even able to request help from others in his perilous situation.
Being a rare kind of adventurer at the beginning he didn’t enjoy the very essence of adventure and only cared about the kill count of goblins.
Later he slowly started to care about his teammates and his experiences with them.
