The Elusive Samurai Episode 10: Anime Review

Posted on September 16, 2024September 23, 2024 By swetabjya No Comments on The Elusive Samurai Episode 10: Anime Review

The Elusive Samurai episode 10 starts with a lighthearted tone with jokes, humor, and all, finally ending with a more serious note.

In The Elusive Samurai episode 9, the story ended with the victory of Suwa over Sadamune with the rigorous effort of the team of Hojo Tokiyuki, whereas, for the first few minutes in The Elusive Samurai episode 10, the tragic aftermath of that intense battle is shown where misfortune and fortune came side by side.

Death of quite a number of the Suwa soldiers was the said misfortune while orphans of the abandoned village which became the hotbed for the battle getting their new home is undoubtedly a fortunate event.

Well, beginning with these events in The Elusive Samurai episode 10 put a proper end to the war event from the previous episodes.

Now let’s get down to the main event of this episode.

Fun Part Of The Elusive Samurai Episode 10

After the somber part of The Elusive Samurai episode 10 is over, the fun part begins.

This time it seems like the way humor is presented in this episode is more explicit and to the point.

After Yorishige reveals that he temporarily lost his divinity he starts to request Tokiyuki with the weirdest of favors, like getting eels to satiate his craving, weird vegetables, and building a shrine maiden tied with rope, which in turn creates misconceptions about Tokiyuki among his vassals as an individual with unique fetishes.

All those instances and situations may have been not so important to the main storyline but were absolutely necessary to build a laidback pace before all the events catch up to the main storyline.

Now, Tokiyuki and Yorishige were presented in The Elusive Samurai episode 10 as a comical duo, and the way it was presented brings out the absolute humor for the viewers to enjoy.

If anything is missing that would be Sizuku’s punchlines but that lacking part doesn’t do significant damage to the funny vibe this episode tries to build.

If one asks why this humor is necessary for The ELusive Samurai episode 10, there could be only one answer, which is to further the story in this episode it is absolutely necessary to add those events which by chance turn out to be humorous events.

Now, after learning about the importance of the humor added in this episode, it’s naturally necessary to learn about the reason why this was added in this episode or what could have happened that made all those coincidentally humorous events necessary additions.

The Events Coincidental Humors Lead To

All those events discussed up till now in The Elusive Samurai episode 10 which are coincidentally humorous do lead to more important parts of this episode.

Like, the final request from Yorishige to Tokiyuki for the sake of regaining his divinity was fetching water from the wetland of Suwa Grand Shrine residency which is situated at Mount Moriya was only made after Yorishige made him go through the ordeal of those pointless and arduous tasks mentioned before.

This led Tokiyuki to meet a different version of Sizuku which was overdue until now, since in all those previous episodes, Sizuu didn’t get any proper background check, so a quick sneak peek of her ability and specialty is more than enough at this point.

Besides that, Tokiyuki gets to see the world that Yorishige and Sizuku see from their point of view, which leads him to sympathize with them more.

This was undoubtedly a smart move from this episode to show the deepening of the bond between the above characters.

What’s more, Yrishige’s explanation of the supernatural and accumulation of power losing value in the future due to the questioning and reasoning mind of humans with the background animation of modern Japan was something new.

That event wouldn’t come to be or seem organized enough if the previous humorous events weren’t placed correctly.

So, it’s proven that all those short but impactful humorous events were important enough to lead to the next important events.

Hint Of Upcoming Turmoil

Now, on a more serious note, the next event of The Elusive Samurai episode 10 turns more fearsome as Ashikaga Takauji enters with his madness and charisma.

At the same time, in The Elusive Samurai episode 10, his younger brother Ashikaga Tadayoshi makes his debut with his cool and calculative mind.

The disturbing scenes of Takauji drawing a beast swallowing Buddha truly depict his demonic nature while his brother Tadayoshi’s disgust at Takauji’s perversion while also agreeing with his scheming plan displays his cool and practical mindset.

Enough with the character explanation, now it’s time to know what kind of turmoil is foreshadowed in this episode.

As Takauji kind of “strongly” requested his brother Tadayoshi to strengthen the defense and search for the remnant of the Hojo lineage, this gives a straight hint to another hurdle, or one could say a straight-out turmoil hurled towards Tokiyuki.

Final Thought

If we see The Elusive Samurai episode 10 more objectively, then it is evident that this episode is a perfect combo of a fair amount of laidback content and enough seriousness is also incorporated in here.

If any of those portions were missing then it could have messed up the continuation of the story and the reasoning that binds the events of the story of The Elusieve Samurai episode 10.

In other words, each of the parts is important to each other and that makes this episode complete.

Besides that, the foreshadowing, that shows Takauji and his younger brother Tadayoshi plotting another crackdown to capture the remnant of Hojo’s lineage makes one anticipate something more eventful from the next episode.
