Will Serfort In The Story Of Wistoria Wand And Sword Episode 1

In a world where magical power is everything, Will Serfort doesn’t possess even a little bit of magical power, so it is understandable that when he is in the renowned Rigarden Magical Academy, he is being discriminated against.

Against all the odds he longs to reach the pinnacle of the magic and become Magia Vende because he has an old promise to fulfill.

He has small numbers of allies who can understand his drive and desperation, Colette Loire and Professor Workner were among them.

But most of the others were against him being in the Academy in the first place, like Professor Edward Selfens and Sion Ulster.

In the first place, to become a Magia Vende one has to advance to the upper institute, and to do that one has to gather a large number of credits from Magical Academy’s curricula, Writing, Spellwork, and Praxis.

Since Spellwork requires magical power, Will couldn’t get credits in that aspect, so he had to depend on Writing and Praxis-hunting monsters in the dungeon for credits.

Will may have no affinity with magic, but he has a trained physique to deal with monsters in the dungeon more efficiently than others.

Will has superhuman strength unbefitting that of a mage, is robust like a Dwarf, has the insight to completely grasp an enemy’s movements just by seeing it once, and his sword slashes surpass lightning.

So, Will often dives into the dungeon with his familiar Kiki to earn credits by hunting monsters.

This is how Will Serfort is described in the Wistoria Wand and Sword episode 1.

Magia Vende

Let’s see what we learn about Magia Vende in Wistoria Wand and Sword episode 1.

It was said that long long ago there was no sky but darkness and the world was engulfed by that darkness.

Invaders known as Celestial Hosts were the reason for the terror in the world.

In such a perilous time, five wizards rose against them and drove them away.

Wizards then cast a magical seal over the sky as a preventive measure against the invasion.

These five wizards were known as the strongest wizards, and were named Magia Vende, the title still carried forward by the strongest wizards of the present time.

Every mage dreams of this title since it’s the pinnacle of magic, but Will had another reason to pursue that title, which was a childhood promise.

The Promise Will Serfort Made

In his childhood, Will Serfort used to have a friend with whom he used to learn about the outside world.

The light their world has was due to the magical seal of Magia Vende, which Will knew, but his friend told him about the facts that he didn’t know.

She told him, how there was a real sky outside the seal, and the Sun and the Moon existed there.

How beautiful the sunset is in reality.

But all of this was knowledge from books, and their child-mind thought that by being inside the highest tower, the Magia Vende’s tower it would be possible to look past the magical seal.

But all of this was knowledge from books

That’s why both of them made a promise to someday reach that tower.

This promise may seem childish to others, but half of it became true when everyone learned that Will’s childhood friend was the real deal, and she became the youngest Magia Vende ever in history.

However, Will devoid of magical power couldn’t follow her, but he didn’t give up.

He is trying to become Magia Vende and his struggle is shown in Wistoria Wand and Sword episode 1.

What Happened In Wistoria Wand And Sword Episode 1?

The Beginning of The Story

The story of Wistoria Wand and Sword episode 1 starts with Will Serfort hunting monsters in the dungeon to earn the required credit to graduate.

The next scene shows the discrimination against non-magic users such as him, using Professor Edward Selfens and students, especially Sion Ulster.

All of them were against him attending Rigarden Magical Academy since he had no magical power.

But all the students weren’t against him, Collette Loire was among them.

On their way back from class they had their eye fixed on the tower where Magia Vende lives, with the hope of Icemaiden’s Wand, Alvis Vina watching over them.

Will remembered his childhood promise to his friend of reaching the top of the tower of Magia Vende together, which he failed to fulfill due to his inability.

The mindset of a person who is left behind is shown very well in Wistoria Wand and Sword episode 1, as Will moves forward with his conviction.

Will Serfort Have One Last Chance

Will comes to know from Professor Workner that, forget about becoming Magia Vende, even if he wants to graduate from the Academy, that is impossible due to his lack of credits.

However, out of consideration, Professor Workner gave him intel on a monster named Baskerville on the sixth floor of the dungeon, hunting which would earn him 6 credits and he was required to earn 4 credits to pass the week.

There was no reason to let go of this chance, so Will with his familiar Kiki dived into the sixth floor of the dungeon in search of the monster, but wherever you go there always will be someone trying to hold you back from your success, Sion Ulster was such a character.

He eavesdrops on the conversation between Will and Professor Workner and decides to hunt that monster before him so that Will loses the chance to earn the credit and has to leave the Academy.

So Sion brought two classmates with him to hunt the Baskerville.

But evil schemes never go as planned every time, because Baskerville wasn’t present there but something more powerful, an Evil Sentinel was present, and after decimating his two classmates Evil Sentinel was about to kill Sion.

was about to kill Sion

Watching that scene at first Will wanted to help but he stopped his steps as a thought boiled up in his mind, why would he help his bully, this scene exactly made the protagonist more relatable and believable, since he is not the typical do-gooder like the majority of other shonen protagonists.

But ultimately he moves to save Sion, as his childhood friend’s memory and her expectation from him compelled him.

On the other hand, it’s been a long time since Sion has been missing from the school and was informed that he was inside the sixth floor of the dungeon, so Professor Edward Selfens came to Professor Workner to ask him to use his familiar to find the exact location of Sion.

However, Workner assured him saying Will was there and showed him in the magic orb the visuals from the Kiki’s perspective, where Will is slaying that monster.

As Will slayed that monster Professor Edward learned that Will’s physical prowess surpassed even magical power, his biased brain couldn’t handle the fact so he left.

All’s well if the end’s well, Will saves Sion, and earns more credits than he expected as slaying Evil Sentinel earned him 10 credits.

A day goes by in Wistoria Wand and Sword episode 1 and Will Serfort’s journey to reach his goal of becoming Magia Vende and standing beside his childhood friend proudly continues.

Next, what adventure awaits Will, to know that, stay tuned for the next episode...
